Bhubaneswar, July 9 (UDN): The Odisha Government has announced stringent enforcement measures against vehicles operating without mandatory documents, directing authorities to seize vehicles found without valid fitness certificates, insurance coverage or permits.
The decision is part of the state’s efforts to strengthen road safety, ensure compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act and improve the overall enforcement of transport regulations. Transport enforcement agencies have been instructed to intensify inspections across the state and take immediate action against violators.
Officials said commercial and other applicable vehicles must possess valid fitness certificates, insurance policies and operational permits while plying on public roads. Vehicles found operating in violation of these requirements will face seizure and other legal action as prescribed under the law.
The Transport Department has urged vehicle owners and operators to verify that all statutory documents are up to date to avoid penalties and disruption of services. The department also appealed to the public to cooperate with enforcement agencies in promoting safer and more responsible road use.
The intensified enforcement drive is expected to enhance roadworthiness standards, improve passenger safety and ensure greater adherence to transport regulations across Odisha.
