Dhenkanal, June 24 (UDN): Development activities at the revered site popularly known as Dhenkanal’s ‘Second Srikhetra’ have reportedly come to a standstill, prompting concern among locals who have now urged the Odisha government to step in and resume the stalled work.
According to local residents and stakeholders, several ongoing infrastructure and improvement projects at the religious and cultural site have remained incomplete for an extended period, affecting both devotees and visitors. The delay has raised concerns over the preservation and development of the heritage site, which holds significant religious importance in the region.
Community members alleged that lack of coordination between implementing agencies and administrative delays have contributed to the stagnation of work. As a result, basic amenities and planned upgrades meant to enhance pilgrim experience have not materialised as expected.
Locals have appealed to the state government to take immediate steps to review the status of the projects and ensure their timely completion. They also demanded greater monitoring and accountability from concerned departments to prevent further delays.
The ‘Second Srikhetra’ is considered an important spiritual and cultural landmark in Dhenkanal, attracting devotees throughout the year. Residents believe that timely completion of development work would not only improve facilities but also boost religious tourism in the region.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter. Further updates are awaited.
