4th MNLU Mumbai Convocation Celebrates Academic Excellence

Mumbai, Apr 1: MNLU Mumbai celebrated a milestone in its academic journey as it held its Fourth Convocation at the iconic Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi, Mumbai. The ceremony commenced at 10:00 AM. It brought together distinguished dignitaries, graduating students, faculty and proud families to mark the conferral of degrees upon the batch of legal professionals.

 The program opened with the National Anthem, lending a solemn and patriotic spirit. The formal program began with a welcome address and the report delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey, Vice Chancellor of MNLU Mumbai, who outlined the university’s academic achievements, research contributions and institutional growth over the past year.

The convocation was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Alok Aradhe, Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Chancellor of MNLU Mumbai, who delivered the Convocation Address. Hon’ble Justice Smt. Bharati Dangre, Judge of the High Court of Bombay, Hon’ble Justice Shri Sandip Marne, Judge of High Court of Bombay, Hon’ble Dr. Milind Sathe, Advocate General, Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkata Rao, Vice Chancellor of the India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER), Goa and Hon’ble Prof. (Dr.) Shri Prakash Chaudhary, were also present as distinguished guests at the occasion.

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Alok Aradhe formally declared the opening of the convocation. It set the stage for the most anticipated moment of the day, the conferral of degrees upon the graduating students.

Degrees conferred, Medals awarded

The conferral of degrees segment included students from the university’s various programmes.255 Students were awarded degrees, including 3 in Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), 133 Post Graduate degrees ( Master of Laws LLM, MA Mediation , MBA) and 119 in Bachelor of Arts and Laws (Honours) [BA LLB (Hons)] degrees and medals were also awarded for all the programmes. The students received their degrees, marking the culmination of years of rigorous academic work, mooting and legal research. The moment drew enthusiastic applause from the audience as each graduate’s name was called.

The dignitaries awarded medals to the top three performers of the batches who had excelled academically and contributed meaningfully to the university’s ethos. The awardees demonstrated MNLU Mumbai’s dedication to fostering excellence in legal education.

Voices of the day

The convocation address delivered by the Chancellor, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Alok Aradhe offered words of inspiration, counsel and perspective drawn from his distinguished career on the bench. He expressed that as lawyers one needs to be empathetic and serve the community with honesty and integrity. He emphasised that education gives the students the ability and logic while the exposure to the world outside will hone their practical acumens.

Vice Chancellor Prof.  Dilip Ukey, in his welcome remarks, spoke of the institution’s vision and the journey of the graduating class. His inspiring speech helped in motivating the students where he highlighted various initiatives taken by research centres at MNLU Mumbai. He further stated a significant increase in the total number of placements, an evidence of which was showcased by the release of the report of internship in collaboration with National Legal Services Authority .

The convocation ceremony concluded with the closing of the convocation by the Chancellor and the singing of the National Anthem, bringing a formal and dignified close to a day that will be remembered fondly by all who were present.
